Thank you for visiting Welcome Tattoo! Here is the after-care we ask you to follow.

What to Avoid While Healing Your New Tattoo

  • No submerging your tattoo in water for at least 2 weeks:
Avoid baths, hot tubs, pools, lakes, and oceans.
  • No direct sunlight on your tattoo—UV rays can damage fresh tattoos.
  • Avoid heavy sweating and workouts for the first several days. Movement and moisture can affect healing and increase the chance of infection.
  • Avoid tight clothing that may rub or trap sweat over the tattooed area.
  • Do not pick, scratch, or peel any scabbing or flaking skin—let it fall off naturally.

Helpful Tips

  • For your first wash lather and rinse your tattoo thoroughly, repeating as needed until the skin feels completely clean there should be no slippery or shiny residue left behind.
  • A thin layer of moisturizer is best, more is not better. Let your skin breathe.
  • Healing time depends on your skin type, tattoo size and placement, and other personal factors.
  • Always follow your tattoo artist’s personalized aftercare advice. This guide is general and does not replace medical recommendations.

Instructions

Step 1: Keep the Wrap On

Leave the initial wrap on for 2–3 hours or overnight. Larger tattoos or tattoos in high-friction areas are typically best kept wrapped until the next morning to help protect the skin and reduce irritation during the early stages of healing.

Step 2: Gently Wash Your Tattoo

  • Use a mild, fragrance-free soap like Dr. Bronner’s Unscented Pure-Castile Soap.
  • Wash 2–3 times a day using clean hands and lukewarm water for two weeks.
  • Gently pat dry with a clean paper towel—no rubbing.

Step 2: Apply Ink Balm

  • With clean hands, apply a very thin, even layer of Ink Balm to your tattoo.
  • Ink Balm melts at body temperature. If it feels firm, soften a small amount between your palms before applying.
  • Reapply Ink Balm after each wash or as needed to keep the area moisturized and soothed.

Step 3: Moisturize Lightly
